DVS Phase 2
Transport for London (TfL) have now released the final details on the Direct Vision Standard (DVS) Phase 2 with an updated HGV safety permit guidance for operators entering London, and the final specifications of the Progressive Safe System.
How Does This Affect You?
- If you have 3, 4 or 5 star HGVs, then your existing Safety Permit remains valid until 2030.
- If your HGVs are rated at 0, 1 or 2 stars, your Safety Permit will expire in October and you will need to fit a Progressive Safe System to your HGVs before renewing it.
To note:
If you are applying NOW for a New vehicle or New Safety Permit for your 0- to 2-star vehicle, then you will essentially be applying for DVS Phase 1, and so you will still need to reapply for a New Safety Permit for DVS Phase 2 from June 2024.
Similar to Phase 1, TfL are allowing for a 3-month grace period. What this means is, if you have registered your vehicle by the 28th October 2024 and you can demonstrate that you have a Progressive Safe System installation booked, then you will have until January 2025 to complete your Safety Permit application.
If you would like more details on the Durite Progressive Safe System (PSS) (as this meets the R151 and R159 requirements) please get in touch.
